About

Set against the backdrop of war-torn Croatia in 1994, "Touch of Red" unfolds over the course of a single Halloween night... in reverse. It begins in the end of the story and ends in the beginning.

The film follows Ivan and Matilda, two teenagers navigating the chaos and danger of the evening.

Ivan, a quiet 16-year-old writer, spends his days at home, while Matilda, his spirited neighbor, prefers the company of friends and loud music.

Their worlds collide when Ivan's search for cigarettes brings them together, leading to a night filled with danger and unexpected twists. As they navigate through uncertainty and war, Ivan and Matilda discover the strength of their bond and the power of adolescent love.

'Touch of Red' explores themes of identity, escapism, loyalty, and the power of human connection in the face of adversity. The narrative delves into the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring bonds that unite us, even in the darkest of times.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE

"This film began as a deep dive into a night out I wish I could have lived through.

Coming from a small Croatian town, not much was happening during my teenage days and I think this film delves not only into what it would be like to go to Oasis but what 1994 Zagreb really was like for younger people. From the various social castes like the rappers, the metalheads, the punks, to the sheer exploration of the big city as a young person.

Everyone has problems and I think it is an interesting exploration to see what an outgoing, optimistic and extraverted girl could do with an introverted, shy, and geeky guy for a night."
